What is your "why"? What drives you to do this important work each day?

My “why” is the students. I am driven to inspire and motivate young learners.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I most enjoy that I am a representative in the school system of a person of colour, who can greatly, positively influence other students of color. Where this can be a lifetime internal effect that student can look back on when they're older and know that someone cared about them when they were navigating their educational future as a youth to empower them as an adult.

What would you most like families to know about the role of Student Support Workers in HRCE schools?

That we are fully engaged and interacting regularly with their child/youth. That we are taking their school experience seriously and mentoring and supporting them daily instilling family core values and expectations that they would be proud of.
